OK! I set up a free uptimerobot.com account, with username dustin@…. I've put the username and password in the infra vault.

I added notification emails for both sysadmins@ and verm@…, but they seem to be waiting for some kind of confirmation. I haven't seen a confirmation email, though. Not sure what's up with that.

Also, buildbot.buildbot.net is down :)

If someone wants to do a little JS work, we could set up a static status.buildbot.net on S3 which polls the uptimerobot API and displays smiley or frowny faces. I don't know if that's worthwhile..

Once those other accounts are activated, I'll enable alerts.

Dustin, is uptimerobot.com provides some kind of status page? Or only API to query status?

comment:5 Changed 3 years ago by dustin

No, it doesn't -- I was thinking of building a static page on S3 that pulls from the API.

OK, I added alerts to sysadmins@ and to me (both @buildbot.net and @gmail.com), so at least we'll know when something goes wrong.

As for a dashboard, https://www.rossp.org/blog/uptime-robot-s3/ looks useful.

  • Resolution set to fixed
  • Status changed from new to closed

http://status.buildbot.net.s3-website-us-east-1.amazonaws.com/

and, once DNS propagates,

http://status.buildbot.net

Details are in the README of https://github.com/buildbot/status.buildbot.net

I added a link to the wiki. I'm not sure what other locations would be useful.

The DNS change didn't get applied by Ansible until just now.

comment:11 Changed 3 years ago by dustin

Yay, applied now.
