Floating Waterfall

Description

It would be really nice if the waterfall was kind of in a frame. This is hard to describe.

For instance, I have numerous builders on a single master. To view them in the waterfall, my browser includes a horizontal scroll bar. When I move the scroll bar to the right to view the rest of the builders, I no longer see the columns with the time or changes. It would be nice if those two columns (plus the menu links) remained on the page when you scroll left and right.

The same can be said for the builder names. It would be really nice if when you scrolled up and down, the rows displaying the builder's last build, current activity, and builder names (next to the time zone) remained on the page. It'd be extra cool if the footer on the waterfall page (the version number, when the page was built, etc) would stay on the page as well.

Again, I just have so many builders that if I scroll right or down, I can easily lose which builder I'm looking at OR what time it occurred and who made the change. If I scroll right AND down, I lose both.

  • Keywords web added; waterfall removed

Often the waterfall isn't the best way to view things. As you've seen, it's packed full of white space and gets large easily.

That said, for reasons I can't explain everyone seems to like it, so I expect it will be re-implemented in JavaScript? in the nine project. Is that something you could support or contribute to?

I would love to, but my job keeps me extremely busy, and I have never been a good Javascript programmer. I'm definitely not someone you'd want mucking around with the waterfall design.
